Bloem made a number of striking film and TV productions, including the major feature film Ver van familie (2008).
Her youth film The Magician's Apprentice (1986) received the Cinekid Award and several nominations.
Bloem made television programs including a number of films and programs about eroticism in children and for IKON television the satirical multicultural program Screentest (1985). Samen with her husband Ivan she directed the television series Course for beginners in love (1988) for the VPRO.
In 2007, Bloem started producing her first cinema film. The film was titled Far From Family and was based on her novel of the same name. Bad-5cde583113694_Verspeel5_Family_58781995_Family settled in the Netherlands and America around 1986. Leading actors are Terence Schreurs en Anneke . Bloem wrote the screenplay and directed. The film premiered on September 14, 2008 at the International Film Festival "Film by the sea" in Vlissingen and was shown in Dutch cinemas in the winter of 2008 and 2009. At the time of the premiere, a film edition of the novel was released. Film music is among others by Alex Britti . The film was broadcast in three parts on television in August 2010. Bloem made a short theatrical version that premiered at the Cinemasia festival on May 30, 2010.
